PORTRAITS OF SICILY

During the summer of 2010 I traveled to my ancestral land of Sicilia. I took the following portraits while eating, struggling, and loving my way through this enchanted and ancient land. Given that the Normands, Greeks, Arabs from North Africa, Saracens, Corinthians, Spanish, Romans, etc...(you fill in the names) conquered the place, there is a myriad and layered experience to observing the people, hearing their language (Sicilian is more its own language than a dialect, really) and eating from the diverse menu of foods. But people always intrigue me. I find them beautiful--not almost always, but always. I fell in love with my heart of homes and perhaps you can see why. I have a blog (where these portraits are duplicated) that is devoted to traveling and living in Sicily. http://dreaminginsicily.blogspot.com Enjoy!!!
